BUTTERMOOR FARM

The Radford family have been farming at Buttermoor for almost 90 years.  Clifford Radford moved to Buttermoor as a tenant farming 80 acres on the late 1920s.  Now three generations later his grandson, Stephen and his family run the farm of over 450 acres.

The farm put in robots to milk the cows in 2013.  In September 2015 Stephen and Graham (Stephen's son) were awarded the High Fertility Award at the Creamery Awards.

The farm rear all their own calves of both dairy and beef with stock totaling over 400.  The farm also has around 150 acres of arable lane growing maize, wheat and barley.

STANTERTON FARM

The Ayre Family has been farming at Stanterton for the past 75 years.  Arthur Ayre moved to Stanterton as a tenant farming 173 acres.  Now 4 generations later his grandson, Julian and his family run the farm specialising in dairy cows, farming 460 acres, with the help and support of 11 landowners.

Being run on a grazing system, most of the milk is produced from the pastures of Washfield, preserving the local environment.
