Commemorating World War I
Stoodleigh History Group remembered World War I by telling the stories of some of those who served - at home and abroad. Information was collated about "The Men of Stoodleigh" for an Exhibition to commemorate those who died in the First World War.
The WWI Commemorative Panel can be found in St Margaret's Church Porch. The History Group also provided a transcription of the Panel.

Further research was carried out by the History Group in 2018 and it was noted that the Dunning family moved into Stoodleigh Court in 1896, having bought the Stoodleigh Estate. Their second son, Edwin, went to Osborne and then Dartmouth Naval Colleges. In 1905 he became a midshipman in the Royal Navy. He then became a pilot and served in the Dardanelles, rising to the rank of Squadron Commander. See further information about Squadron Commander Dunning.
