Minutes Planning Meeting April 9 2025
NOTICE OF MEETING
A Special (Planning) Meeting of Stoodleigh Parish Council held on 9th April 2025 at 7.00pm at Stoodleigh Parish Hall
MEMBERS
Councilors W Knowles, J Widdowson, R Wotton, G Parkman, C Payne and J Mansfield
AGENDA
1. Apologies – D Wotton
2. Declarations of Interest - None
3. The Public – Mrs. D Brice, who lives next door to 3 Court Gardens, outlined her objection to planning application 25/00006/HOUSE. Mrs. Brice had objected to the original application and was concerned that the revised drawings still represented a very large development that would have an impact on her property, leading to a loss of privacy and a restriction on natural light. Mrs. Brice went on to quote planning policy DM11 which states that extensions to existing dwellings will be permitted provided that they “will not have a significantly adverse impact on the living conditions of occupants of neighbouring properties”. Whilst Mrs. Brice was not against the applicant wanting accommodation for their family, she believed that there were alternatives that should be considered, either restricting the extension to no further than the dwelling currently extends on the eastern aspect, or using the available space on the western aspect which would not impact on the neighbouring property.
4. Planning Application: 25/00282/FULL | Erection of an extension to building to create office and worker apartment | Stud Thorne Farm Stoodleigh
Location Stud Thorne Farm Stoodleigh
On the 9th April 2025 members of the Parish Council visited the site which was the subject of this application.
RESOLVED The following was proposed by W. Knowles, seconded by C. Payne and approved unanimously:
The Parish Council support this application. There is clearly a need for new office space and on-site accommodation for essential staff. The proposed development would improve the aesthetics of the building with the removal of the derelict portacabins.
5. 25/00006/HOUSE |Erection of two-storey and single storey extensions|3 Court Gardens Stoodleigh REVISED DRAWINGS
Location Court Gardens Stoodleigh
On the 9th April 2025 members of the Parish Council visited 2 Court Gardens to view the extent of the proposed development which was the subject of this application.
RESOLVED The following was proposed by J. Widdowson, seconded by G. Parkman and approved unanimously:
The Parish Council do not support this application in its current format, due to the impact on 2 Court Gardens in respect of restricting natural light and privacy.
An acc
eptable proposal would be to limit the extent of the proposed extension to the existing garage line, or if this does not give sufficient space an extension on the West elevation would have less impact on the neighbouring properties.
